Element has made a series of investments at its laboratory in Warren, Michigan, to extend its NVH testing capabilities. As OEMs focus on improving comfort inside the vehicle cabin, Element Warren has also expanded its BSR testing capabilities by acquiring one of the largest silent shakers in the market.

The 5ft wide and 6ft deep shaker has a 700 lb weight limit which allows for vibration of components that would typically be too large or heavy for a silent shaker system to test.

The shaker is used for the standard BSR testing of individual components such as consoles, instrument panels (IP), doors and front seats. However the increased weight capacity now allows for complete rear seats or IP with console to be tested as full assemblies.

This table allows for multi-axis vertical pitch and roll testing, as well as sequential four-axis testing. In addition, the group has appointed an experienced principal test technician to lead the BSR laboratory at the Warren facility.

John Nelson, EVP, transportation and industrials, Element, said, “This latest investment means that Element is one of the very few independent testing houses in North America that has the capability of testing full components, such as instrument panels and consoles, together as one system, ensuring the most accurate test results for our customers.

“As the market leader in North America for automotive testing, we continue to lead the industry in innovation and providing technical solutions to meet the changing requirements of our automotive clients and their supply chain partners.’’
