Test and measurement specialist Rohde & Schwarz is working with the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) on an automotive Ethernet testbed platform.

The new platform helps customers access 100base-T1 and 1000base-T1 compliance testing, including physical layers (PHY) and electronic control units (ECU).

Rohde & Schwarz is at the forefront of automotive Ethernet development. The company was the first T&M manufacturer to test and validate all the layer 1 (PHY) test cases for 1000base-T1. The UNH-IOL, involved with automotive Ethernet testing since 2012, utilizes an R&S RTO2044 oscilloscope and an R&S ZND vector network analyzer for several automotive-specific test services.

Dr Nik Dimitrakopoulos, market segment manager automotive at Rohde & Schwarz, said, “Collaboration with UNH-IOL and assisting them with our T&M solutions for the automotive Ethernet compliance testing offers us exciting opportunities. The UNH-IOL is an important partner for us and we are focusing on the automotive Ethernet market needs of today and tomorrow.”

Curtis Donahue, senior manager of automotive Ethernet technologies at UNH-IOL, said, “We are excited about the recent addition of the R&S RTO2044 oscilloscope and R&S ZND vector network analyzer to our automotive testbed.

“Our continued partnership with Rohde & Schwarz will help expand our testing services for 100/1000base-T1 solutions, for both silicon vendors and Tier 1 automotive suppliers; as well as enable the InterOperability Laboratory to offer test services for future automotive Ethernet technologies, such as the 10base-T1S PHY which is currently being developed in the IEEE.”
